Made in Italy and offered at a surprisingly low price — this is the watercolor starter set from the brush experts at Borciani e Bonazzi. They’re meant for beginners, but they still have excellent build quality because they’re made in the same Italian workshop as BeB’s more expensive brushes.
Like all Borciani e Bonazzi brushes, these essential gold watercolor brushes hold their shapes nicely, spring back into place quickly, and respond well to washing and re-shaping. Beginners are advised to wash their brushes promptly; even a high-quality brush should never be left with paint in the bristles.
Three brushes are included in this starter pack: a wide, flat mottler brush for bold shapes and backgrounds; an extra-long liner for sinuous curves and calligraphic strokes; and a standard round for pretty much everything else.
About Borciani e Bonazzi
Since 1951, Borciani e Bonazzi has made the finest quality artist brushes in northern Italy. Each BeB brush is still individually hand-crafted in Casalmaggiore, with the inherited skill of generations of brushmakers. Today, the artisans at Borciani e Bonazzi are able to use much more advanced materials, and they can make shapes that didn’t exist in 1951. But they have never abandoned the irreplaceable process of hand-shaping the brush tip.
